Getting Ready for Autumn (Fall)

Time to check your Smoke Detectors

With the approach of autumn, it's time to get ready for the coming cooler weather. Fall is also the other time of year (in addition to spring) where you should be checking your smoke detectors. Make sure they're working properly (look for the "Test" button), and be sure to change the batteries if they're not working.

Please also make sure you're changing your AC filters every month, and are running some white vinegar down your AC drain line when you change the AC filter. Don't forget that it's normal to smell a little "burning" the first time you turn on your heater for the first time, as the dust that's settled on the coils burns off when you turn the heater on. That smell should dissipate pretty quickly. If not, you may want to open your windows for 30 minutes or so to air out your home.

Autumn is also the time to think about doing a little fall cleaning before the cooler weather gets here. If you enjoy Halloween and plan to participate in "Trick or Treat" this year, make sure you leave on a porch light (and maybe have a carved pumpkin!) so that the little ghosts and goblins know that you're participating in the fun.

Finally, a friendly reminder to notify us in writing no less than 60 days before your current lease ends if you're wanting to renew or are planning on moving on to your next home. This allows us to either get your renewal approved before your current lease ends, or we need to start running ads for the next Tenants if you'll be moving on.
